CSK new captain: The Indian Premier League (IPL) is the most popular sporting event in the world right now. The amount of money & people are involved here is massive. And it would not be wrong that IPL is the toughest cricket league in the world. It is a real test for players to playback to back so many matches in a short length of time.
Players need to travel a lot within this one month period of time. It is not easy to get a chance to play in the cash-rich tournament and the players who get a chance to ply their trades in the IPL need to perform consistently in order to retain their spot on the side. As it is really a huge business model so people are investing more and more. This year the sponsor dream 11 invested millions in dollars behind it. Some rumors claimed that the BCCI is also planning to add a ninth franchise the IPL family and this is set to make the mega auction very interesting.
Franchises will try to add new players to their squad in order to build a team for the future and that makes the age and fitness of a player very vital criteria. And many of the teams are thinking about letting some of the players out of their team for bad performances.
CSK new captain: CSK is planning to get their new captain after MS Dhoni’s retirement. The team really struggled this year with bowling and especially batting. Though FAF played a few good knocks that were not good enough. They might look for someone like Kane Williamson to be their future captain for several years.
Here are some star players who may go unsold in the mega auction:
Piyush Chawla: The leg-spinner is a known face in the IPL but his fitness is not up to the mark anymore. In IPL 2020, Chawla was a part of the Chennai Super Kings squad but he did not get to feature in a lot of CSK games. Chawla played in seven matches in IPL 2020 and claimed only six wickets. If CSK decides to release Chawla then it is unlikely that he would find any takers.
Kedar Jadhav: Indian all-rounder Jadhav failed to live up to his name in IPL 2020. Jadhav played for CSK and scored only 62 runs in eight matches. It is highly unlikely that Jadhav would be bought by any team at a mega auction because his fitness is also a major concern.
Umesh Yadav: Fast bowler Umesh Yadav played only two games in IPL 2020 and he failed to pick up even a single wicket. Yadav may go unsold if he is back at the auction table. Yadav’s economy is also on the higher side in IPL and this may also compel the franchise owners not to include him in the squad.
Talking about RCB, their top order really struggled this year. Though Padikal played some great cricket this year his other partner Aron Finch couldn’t do anything more than a 110 strike rate. Like every year RCB will try to release Finch. In return, they will try to run their money behind someone like Jason Roy.
Mike hasson the RCB director already mentioned about him ‘We need someone with a good strike rate just at the starting of the innings. It is very important to use powerplay to make a difference and create pressure.
Kolkata Knight riders might release Dinash Kartik for an ordinary season. He is already taken off from captaincy and next year Kolkata might look for someone else.
